Initial report: 11 February, 6.28pm

PETER PLACE – An armed robbery at a Peter Place jewellery store at around 10.30am on 11 February was caught on camera and uploaded to Facebook by Bryanston resident and eblockwatch founder Andre Snyman.

Snyman also had camera footage of the suspects allegedly scouting the jewellery store a few days prior to the robbery.

Snyman describes how the robbery unfolded. He said a man and woman approach the store’s door, rang the bell and as they entered the store, the woman held the door open while “fiddling with her shoe”.

Snyman described that an employee then ran to the store’s door and followed the suspects into the store. He was followed by another suspect who forced the employee into the store, showing him a gun. A fourth suspect then entered the store and closed the door.

The video does not show how the robbery ended or what the suspects stole.

Attempts to contact the store went unanswered and the police could not be reached for comment.

Snyman urged community members to join the eblockwatch Whatsapp group called Street Talker by saving the number 081 250 3989 to their contacts under the name eblockwatch Street Talker.

Snyman said community members should send a Whatsapp message with the word “Join” if they are already registered on the eblockwatch network; or for those who have not registered before, Whatsaap the word “register” and follow the prompts.
