Coffee and art combines with Douwe Egberts’ latest compaign

Douwe Egberts collaborated with four local artists for Heritage Month to reimagine the iconic coffee jar.

As South Africa celebrates Heritage Month, strong cups of coffee and African inspired artwork are combining in the most extraordinary way.

Douwe Egberts announced its new limited-edition collectible jars on September 5 at Artjamming Melrose Arch. These jars are not just containers of coffee, but also canvases for artistic expression and upcycling potential.

The ‘A Brew-tiful Beginning’ campaign marked a unique initiative where they collaborated with four local artists to reimagine the iconic coffee jar. These artists, chosen for their distinctive styles and deep connection to South African culture, decorated each jar with stories that celebrated the nation’s diversity.

Zinhle Sithebe’s vibrant patterns pay tribute to South African women, while Ndumiso Nyoni’s Afrofuturistic style beautifully blends tradition with modernity. Bonolo Chepape’s textile-inspired design showcases Pedi culture, and Wayne Beukes’ urban artwork adds a contemporary edge.

This highlights the need to support local talent and promote upcycling through creative reuse.
