The Roedean School learner said her first time playing for an audience was at school in the orchestra and didn’t let the nerves get the best of her. “It’s exciting to be surrounded by so many different instruments. This is my first orchestra experience and I look forward to our first performance and tour later this year.”
The Grade 4 learner said although playing the trumpet was tiring, the more she practised the easier it became.

Luckily, she has struck a balance between her academics and passion.

“I try and do most of my homework on Mondays so that I have time to prepare and attend orchestra rehearsals the rest of the week. I also play piano, sing in the choir, attend drama lessons, and play sports.

Nayima concluded that her dreams included being a doctor and a musician one day.
