If there is one thing that kids love, it’s decorating the Christmas tree. While some parents are happy with allowing creative expression to take over the festive decorations, others prefer a more “traditional” approach.
If you haven’t rallied the kids and put your Christmas tree up yet or aren’t quite happy with how it looks, here are some tips for decorating a tree in seven different styles. However, before watching this video by designer Monica Mangin on ways to decorate a Christmas tree, read this:
Don’t forget to childproof your Christmas tree!
- To create a firm barrier between your children and the tree, use a Christmas tree gate – baby gates or child-safe indoor fencing.
- If you’re going to put the tree up high, be sure it’s secure and on a surface that won’t topple or fall over.
- If your tree is out in the open, don’t use lights and instead use tough, indestructible ornaments.
- Tinsel is a choking hazard, so avoid it.
- Trees can cause fires, so keep them away from heat sources.
