Metrobus service resumes

JOHANNESBURG – Metrorail services resume as strike comes to an end.

Metrobus is relieved to inform all its commuters that the industrial action led by the Democratic Municipal and Allied Workers Union of South Africa (Demawusa), has ended and prompted an immediate resumption of service on July 2.

Demawusa embarked on a protected strike which commenced on May 3, creating pandemonium for commuters across the city. Commuters have been left stranded for two months as a result of the industrial action. All passengers will be able to use buses without tagging on the day only, while management is making plans to credit expired trips due to the strike.

Metrobus confirmed in a statement that Demawusa had suspended the strike with immediate effect. All commuters would be entitled to four complimentary trips when loading tags, courtesy of Metrobus

Metrobus extends its apologies to all its commuters for the inconveniences caused during the eight weeks of non-operation.
