Pop-rock artist shares his story of resilience

MELROSE ARCH – Despite a few motocross accidents leading to several health complications, a local artist has managed to release a single.

A local music star based in Melrose Arch has proved that nothing can keep him down, including the bad accident he has suffered in his teen years. Jamie Ollerhead is a 25-year-old musician and artist who goes by the stage name Yung Nasa.

The artist who’s mostly known for his leading genre, pop-rock sound, said he fell in love with music from a very young age as a form of inspiration for the days he used to race motocross.

“I was in a few accidents which caused me to not be able to continue with my biking career, that’s when I made the transition to being a frontman in music.

The inspiration for my pop-rock sound comes from having older siblings who came up in that punk era. They really got me onto Avril Lavigne, Blink 182 and the likes so that’s where I draw a lot of inspiration from and the base of my sound comes from,” Nasa explained.

He added that it wasn’t necessarily just the one accident but that he suffered a number of head traumatic injuries that led him to have the problems he deals with such as past brain trauma. Nasa said, “My motivation came from the people around me and my team. I owe all my success to the people who believe in me because that’s where I get my drive from.”

Becoming a part of the Never Broke family has by far been the highlight of the music artist’s career so far. “I get to grow and make music with the people who helped me start this journey. What a blessing!”

Sharing the message behind Down, his latest single, Nasa said it is definitely more light-hearted than the rest of the project. He said the song talks about holding it down for your team and never switching up on the people who support you. “These guys have been there for me so I wanted to dedicate a piece of my music to the people holding me down.”

According to the musician, the future is always so exciting to think about. “We have honestly put in so much work to make sure that we can hit the ground running after we dropped this project so expect a few international features, a lot of videos and new music is going to be coming out like it’s on tap. I cannot wait to show everyone what we’ve been working on.”
