Pikitup not hiring general workers as reported on social media

JOBURG – In compliance with the Labour Relations Act and its own internal policies, Pikitup advertises positions or vacancies in newspapers and on its website, said MMC for Environment and Infrastructure Services Department Councillor Mpho Moerane.

The City of Joburg MMC for Environment and Infrastructure Services Department (EISD), Mpho Moerane has noted the social media reports that the waste management company of the City of Johannesburg, Pikitup will be hiring general workers from 20 April 2021.

Moerane said Pikitup would like to inform residents of Johannesburg that the messages were fake and that it was not hiring general workers.

“Residents are reminded that in the event that Pikitup undertakes a personnel recruitment process, such a process is normally undertaken in compliance with the provision of the Labour Relations Act, which imposes a duty on organisations to advertise posts on public platforms to enable all interested parties with an equal opportunity to compete for the advertised positions,” said Moerane.

Moerane added that Pikitup’s employment policies advocated for a transparent, equal and fair employment process.

“In compliance with the Labour Relations Act and its own internal policies, Pikitup, therefore, advertises positions or vacancies in newspapers and on its website. It does not advertise vacancies on social media platforms.”

Pikitup appealed to members of the public not to heed the fake messages posted on social media platforms stating that it would be employing general workers.
