Joburg’s Region E records 3 254 active cases of Covid-19

JOBURG – Suburbs in Region E include Alexandra, Wynberg, Sandton, Orange Grove and Houghton

The Gauteng Premier David Makhura has confirmed that the Johannesburg’s northern suburbs of Region E recorded 3 254 active cases of Covid-19 as on 6 August.

Makhura released the sub-district statistics during the Gauteng Command Council’s Covid-19 update on 7 August.

The region, which includes Alexandra, Wynberg, Sandton, Orange Grove and Houghton, confirmed 12 540 cases and 9 164 recoveries while 122 people have lost their lives.

Also in the northern suburbs, Region B confirmed 8 296 cases and 6 599 recoveries while 97 people lost their lives.

Suburbs include Randburg, Rosebank, Emmarentia, Greenside, Melville, Mayfair, Northcliff, Parktown and Parktown North.

The Johannesburg district still remains at the epicentre of the virus outbreak in Gauteng.
