The Gauteng Department of Health has confirmed that Johannesburg’s northern suburbs of Region E recorded 3 384 active cases of Covid-19 as on 5 July.
The region, which includes Alexandra, Wynberg, Sandton, Orange Grove and Houghton, recorded 4 794 cases and 1 410 recoveries.
Also in the northern suburbs, Region B recorded 3 568 cases and 1 316 recoveries.
Suburbs in Region B include Randburg, Rosebank, Emmarentia, Greenside, Melville, Mayfair, Northcliff, Parktown and Parktown North.
The Johannesburg district has recorded 30 404 cases, an increase of 1 804, and 10 532 recoveries while 170 have lost their lives to the novel virus.
A total of 356 cases and 84 recoveries remain unallocated in the district.
