Sandton SPCA blanket drive to help animals in their shelter get warm this winter

SANDTON – The Sandton SPCA team would like to remind animal owners that their pets feel the cold just as badly as they do.

The easing of lockdown regulations under Level 3 has come with some advantages for animal shelters.

The shelters depend on donations and now people can donate directly at their premises. To this end, the Sandton SPCA has started a blanket drive to help animals at the shelter keep warm this winter. Those who would like to donate can deliver the blankets to their shelter or order online and get them delivered.

Supporters also have the option of donating money for the blankets. The dogs, in particular, think of their blankets as a type of toy to chew and they, therefore, require good quality, washable blankets that can stand the ‘test of teeth’.

The organisation washes the blankets daily so that the animals have clean bedding every day.

The Sandton SPCA, which covers a large part of the Gazette’s distribution area, would like to remind animal owners that their pets feel the cold just as badly as they do. Pets are also part of the family and they need to be treated as such.

The public can visit the SPCA’s Facebook page where all the details regarding their blanket requirements are listed. They also have a wish list for the animals. Small donations make a difference and they are appreciated by the Sandton SPCA team.
