J.P Morgan Corporate Challenge mixing business, fitness and pleasure

WANDERES– Something for corporates and business staff members.

Each year proves better than the next and this year will again see top-class entertainment at the J.P Morgan Corporate Challenge on 28 March at the Wanderers Club.

The annual festival-like event is expected to feature a record capacity crowd of 14 000 participants of 343 companies with exclusive post-race entertainment by Timothy Oude Vrielink (Timo ODV) and DJ Luis Ferdinand Vega Jr.

The event is not only a highlight on the road racing calendar but is also a social event where business, fitness and entertainment are combined.

Participants will be on the move at this year’s race whether they are running or walking the 5.6km route or dancing to the beat from the main stage.

Former Springbok captain John Smit will be among a host of celebrities that will be at the race to show their support to the participants. Smit will be joined by former Miss South Africa, Melinda Bam; TV personalities Lunga Shabalala and Cynthia Tshaka; cycling team principal, Doug Ryder; South African women’s football legend, Desiree Ellis; former talk show host, John Robbie; retired rugby player, Butch James; former Paralympic swimmer, Natalie du Toit and actor Thapelo Mokoena.

Mokoena, who made his debut at last year’s race is expected to once again line up at the starting line to show off his athletic abilities. “I’m zooming so fast past them that I don’t even hear a word. It is fun and I just love the camaraderie that you feel when you are having a nice run,” Mokoena said.

The actor added that last year was his first race and he really wanted to experience as much as he could and stayed to check out the performances during the concert. “It is a great way to promote fitness, you get the blood pumping, you get the endorphins running, and the heart rate up and you tone it down with a good entertainment package and good food.”
