Parkview Charity Christmas Market a great success for Nicarela Charities

PARKVIEW – Funds raised through the market will be donated to the Nicarela Charity.

Organisers of the Parkview Charity Christmas Market have hailed this year’s event a success following support from 13 000 adults, 3 300 children and 147 dogs between 30 November and 2 December.

The event, which was hosted at the George Hay Park in Parkview, supports the Nicarela Charity.

Market manager Bridget von Holdt said, “Over the last 11 years, the funds raised by Nicarela from the Potjiekos, the Christmas Market and other fundraising activities have generated over R6,2 million and donated to over 50 organisations thanks to local residents’ support, the hardworking Nicarela committee and the public.”

Some of the Nicarela beneficiaries include a number of learners attending local schools in Parkview, Guild Cottage, Agape Home and many more.

Market visitors enjoyed performances by Parkview Junior and Senior schools, Ettienne Rudolph, Stewart Irving, Hillbrow Outreach Foundation String Ensembles, Cindy Alter and the Fat Tuesday Jazz Band.

“The local community was very supportive of the exhibitors, the food and drink stalls. Some of the stall holders reported their ‘best-ever’ market. Many of the visitors interviewed at the market said that this was the one market they would not miss as it is one of the best-organised markets in Johannesburg,” said Von Holdt.

“As always, it is the support of visitors, the sponsors like Gear House and Expo Guys and Lynca Meats, the volunteers, the City of Joburg (Parks) and so many more that contribute to the success of the market.”
