Acclaimed Italian directors films to be showcased in Rosebank

ROSEBANK – Acclaimed Italian filmmaker Paolo Genovese's films to be shown for free at Johannesburg Italian Film Festival.

The Johannesburg Italian Film Festival will take place this year at Cinema Nouveau Rosebank from 16 to 18 November showcasing the films of acclaimed director Paolo Genovese.

The free festival is open to the public.

Six of Genovese’s films will be screened at the three-day festival. As one of Italy’s most successful contemporary directors, Genovese won the David di Donatello award in 2016 at the Venice Film Festival and the award for best screenwriter at the Tribeca Film Festival for his film Perfect Strangers, which has been remade in several languages after grossing more than 14 million Euros at the Italian box office in 2016.

After much success in Italy, Genovese will be making his US debut soon with the film adaptations of his book The First Day of My Life.

Curator of the festival Claudio Coci said they felt honoured to showcase Genovese’s films.
