A gin celebration gave aficionados a chance to taste some established and upcoming gins at the Wanderers restaurant on 7 June.
The event, held just before World Gin Day which took place on 9 June, was hosted by Norman Goodfellows. They introduced gin-lovers to a variety of new gins, including Aviation Gin, an American brand partly owned by actor Ryan Reynolds.
The evening also saw the soft launch of Italian gin brand Malfy’s new Con Arancia.
Spokesperson for the event, Emily Stockden, said that South Africans are developing an amazing gin drinking culture and that the introduction of premium and high-end gin is perfectly timed for a public looking for innovation.
General manager of Inverroche Gin, Alex Farnell, said that the celebration is a big day as gin culture is rapidly growing in South Africa with many new brands coming out each year.
