Jan Celliers children spoil Park Care residents with cupcakes and gifts
PARKTOWN WEST – The Jan Celliers choir sang for Park Care residents and donated cupcakes and gifts.
Children from Jan Celliers School treated residents at the Park Care Centre in Parktown West to a special morning of singing and treats.
The residents were delighted when the school choir performed some of their songs. The children also bought gifts and cupcakes to share with the residents.
Bernice du Toit, the marketing manager for the school said that this would be the second year the junior choir visited the old age home to sing for the residents. “Each year it is such a charming event full of love, care and respect for one another and a lovely end to the year of supporting this cause which forms part of Laerskool Jan Celliers’ CSI projects.”
The gifts, which will be handed out to the residents before Christmas, were put together by the children and parents and will provide the residents with necessities such as toiletries.
About 300 cupcakes, donated by a school parent, were handed out to all the residents and staff at Park Care.
Jaqui Smith, the marketing manager for the Park Care Centre said the visit was a highlight for residents and the gifts donated to the centre ensure that every resident receives a gift for Christmas.
“Every year we try to make sure every resident gets something. We are not able to buy gifts for everyone, so it’s amazing to be able to give them something nice,” said Smith.
