UK music duo, Maribou State, ready to kick-off summer season with shows in SA

JOBURG – This event will set the rhythm for a superb summer season.

Melos South Africa is bringing the UK music duo, Maribou State to South Africa in December.

Cape Town and Johannesburg will have the opportunity to see the music act that has grown to be loved by fans all over the world on 8 and 9 December.

Maribou State has built a glowing international reputation via a string of well-loved EPs as well as remixes for the likes of Kelis, Lana Del Rey, Alpines, Ultraista and more. They have also received great support from international radio heavyweights Zane Lowe, Annie Mac, Pete Tong and more.

For the duo, Chris Davids and Liam Ivory, it was their common taste in music that brought them together many years ago.

“We played together in a band previously that we both slowly fell out of love with the music being made,” Davids explained. “We found similarities in our tastes and goals and forged a new partnership.”

The duo has had the opportunity to perform on major platforms such as Warehouse Project, Bestival and Glastonbury, which are their personal highlights.

The release of their major debut album a while ago has seen the duo go on to tour all over the world with their music. “The record has really resonated far beyond our expectations and it’s always so warming to see people’s reactions when the music is played live or in a DJ set,” said Ivory

They will perform alongside some of SA’s favourites in the dance scene such as Felix Laband, Christian Tiger School, PHFat, Akio, DJ Lag, Kidfonque, Nonku Phiri, P-Kuttah and the legendary Julian Gomes.

“We’re very grateful also to have the opportunity to come to South Africa. It’s an honour for us to come to a new part of the world and share our music.”

Fans can expect the very best of Maribou State’s original music as well as some hard-hitting base-jumping edits of other artists’ music.
