Win tickets to 54th annual South African Antique, Art and Design Association fair

HOUGHTON ESTATE – The fair will display a variety of jewellery, art and furniture.

The South African Antique, Art and Design Association will host its annual fair from 10 to 12 November at the Killarney Country Club.

The fair, which is in its 54th year, will host 15 local and international exhibitors. Paul Mrkusic, the CEO of the association said not all the exhibits were strictly antiques as there would also be items from the 20th century.

Mrkusic added that what made the fair stand out was the variety. On exhibit will be art, antique furniture, silverware from the 1600s and a Dutch dealer who will have Dutch antiques on display as well as some oriental antiques.

Some of the pieces on display include a selection of Chinese porcelain bowls, dating back from the 1600s, vintage jewellery and Cape Rococo furniture.

Mrkusic also highlighted some exciting exhibits including that of Alvaro Etcheberrya silversmith from Argentina who will display items such as handmade silver handles and wine goblets, and Thami Dlamini, who runs a printing studio which provides African artists with a platform to display their work.

There will also be tours of the fair, led by Mrkusic, which will allow visitors the opportunity to get to know the exhibitors and their pieces.

Twenty tickets to the South African Antique, Art and Design Fair will be up for grabs. To win two tickets to the fair, answer this question: What is the name of the silversmith from Argentina who will be exhibiting his work at the art fair?

Send your answer to competition@caxton.co.za before 3pm. Winners will be announced on 10 November.
