Rotary Arts Festival announces winners of the best portrait award in Hyde Park

HYDE PARK – The winners of the Rotary Arts Festival Portrait Award announced.

 

The Rotary Arts Festival, held at Hyde Park Corner from 1 to 11 June, announced the seven winners of the portrait competition on the evening of 31 May.

A total of 39 artists entered the competition and seven were awarded for their impressive artworks. Two artists received a highly commended award, four artists received a runner-up award and one artist received the best portrait award.

“We all know that the Rotary Arts Festival is actually the art of giving and as I was unwrapping the portraits this morning I looked at every one and thought, ‘Oh wow!’ With that, I know that every one of these painting has been done with 100 per cent passion and skill,” said Jane Sims, curator for the festival and judge for the competition.

Chrysoula Arguros and Megan Bell were the winners of the highly commended portrait award. The four runners-up were Juliet Dobson, Claire Weston, Vivien Budge and Jessie Brien. Robert Domijan won the award for best portrait.
