Jack Daniel’s Music Scouts are back to discover local talent

JOBURG – Follow in the footsteps of Gigi Lamayne and be discovered by the Jack Daniel's Music Scouts.

Discovering the talents of South Africa’s up-and-coming musicians, Jack Daniel’s is looking for nationwide talent once more.

This year sees the fifth season of Jack Daniel’s Music Scouts, the nationwide search for authentic musical talent.

The whiskey brand is once again on the lookout for unsigned musicians, vocalists, producers and DJs across the full spectrum of South African music genres, who are creating authentic beats in their own way.

The winner will once again be part of the local line-up at Jack Daniel’s Boomtown where they will perform numbers from their winning track live, on stage, at this year’s Durban July. The winner will also star in their own publicity video showcasing their independent story to further develop their career.

Jack Daniel’s Boomtown has become a permanent annual fixture at the Durban July and is set to be bigger and better than ever in 2017, with a hot local line including Casper Nyovest, Black Motion, Mafikizolo and Ricky Rick, to name a few.

While the culmination of the competition at the Durban July is rather exciting, the journey is worth the chatter.

Jack Daniel’s Music Scouts has launched the careers of a number of local musicians, who are still doing big things in the industry – one of which is the Ice Cream singer, Gigi Lamayne.

Beyond the competition, Jack Daniel’s shares a long and close history with the music industry, with Daniel himself having started a band, The Original Silver Cornet Band in 1892 with the townspeople of Lynchburg, in the state of Tennessee.

The whiskey has. over time. become the unofficial whiskey of Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack. Rock and Roll would take over the mantle in the 60s and some have said the history of music is dripping with Jack Daniel’s.

To be part of the rich history, enter the competition. Entries close on 9 June and the winner will be announced on 14 June.
