Miss Gay Jozi is looking for a new queen for this year and the talent is looking fierce

JOBURG – Miss Gay Jozi is back to showcase the best LGBTI talent of this year.

With auditions kicking off for Miss Gay Jozi 2017 in March and the pageant just around the corner, are you ready?

“The first part of the ever-amazing Miss Gay Jozi kicked off with an audition round. Top 12 will be selected to continue to the finals,” the Miss Gay Jozi co-ordinator Zsa-Zsa Whitney Gabor-Houston noted.

The top 12 have been chosen and the night that each contestant is waiting for will be held on 27 May, where this year’s winner of the competition will be crowned and honoured for the following year.

WINNER: Roxy Mzisi wins the title of Miss Gay Jozi 2016 and will pass her crown to the next queen at this year’s pageant.

Ahead of the auditions for this year, the reigning Miss Gay Jozi, who was crowned last year, Roxy Mzisi commented, “It feels like it happened yesterday! I’m so thankful to God, to be Miss Gay Jozi 2016 [and] having the opportunity to wear such a high title. [I’m] counting days. The battle of Queer Queens is yet to begin. They all want to be the next Miss Gay Jozi 2017. Do they have what it takes?”

Now in its fifth year, the annual pageant is looking to find the most eligible young candidate to wear the crown, provided that she weighs up to all that a queen should be.

“The criteria for this year is really the same as every other year,” explained Gabor-Houston.

“We’re looking for someone who believes in themselves and someone who stands up for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender/Transexual and Intersexed (LGBTI) community by using their title and their character, and through the work she will be doing as the winner of the pageant.”

Don’t miss out on your chance to be a part of the new winner’s crowning moment on 27 May at Simply Blue in Johannesburg.
