A solo exhibition by self-taught, Johannesburg-based artist, Jenny Reyneke will be opening on 16 March at the Henry George Gallery in Parkhurst.
The exhibition is a series of ink drawings that address the sub-conscious and inner-conversations with nature. “When I draw in ink, I feel like I enter into a kind of African ‘dreamtime’ that borders on the other-worldly,” said Reyneke.

Reyneke’s black and white presentation aims to convey the beauty found in the simple and silent conversations between people and nature. “For me, the inspiration and the muse is the endlessness interconnection between all things, people and places – our urban and rural collectiveness. I don’t think inspiration is something we find within, but rather something we dip into like diving into a river or an ocean, stumbling onto a road, walking in a field or a forest,” she enthused.
The Henry George Gallery, which first opened in 2014, strives to find upcoming South African artists who exhibit profound art pieces from around the country, create with authenticity and integrate a unique South African style.
Keeping an eye on the international art scene, the gallery has created opportunities for South African art overseas and has hosted seven full-scale, curate exhibitions.
In Places Deep will open at the Henry George Gallery with free entrance from 6pm on 16 March until 1 April.
