JOBURG – Female hip-hop sensation, Gigi Lamayne has set her eyes on making history at hip-hop awards.

Genesis Manney, a Johannesburg-based multi-award winning hip-hop artist who is popularly known as Gigi Lamayne, has received three nods from the 2016 South African Hip-Hop Awards (Sahha) with the nominations released on 11 November at a nomination event.

Lamayne received nominations for best female, best mixtape (Ground Zero) and hustler of the year award. Already a four-time Sahha winner and two-time Sahha best female winner, her nominations came as no surprise.

She has been on her A-game over the past 12 months and singles released from her Ground Zero mixtape received high rotation airplay on stations across the country and solidified the name Gigi Lamayne as an artist to reckon with in the South African hip-hop scene.

The 21-year-old has been one of the leading female rappers in the hip-hop genre having performed at events such as Maftown Heights and Back to the City.

Lamayne’s three Sahha nominations come shortly after the release of her highly-anticipated debut album, iGenesis, which is now available at all music stores across the country.

She also recently graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Media and Anthropology, earning four distinctions.
