Sy Klink Soos Lente set for box office success

JOBURG – A love story is soon to hit Joburg cinemas, and it's a must see.

The latest film offering from South Africa is an Afrikaans love story, sure to resonate with the entire country.

Sy Klink Soos Lente – meaning ‘she sounds like spring’ and referring to the song that the male love interest, Ben, performs for his prospective girlfriend, Linda – is the old-time tale of love defying circumstance, but this one has a twist.

When Ben, played by Stiaan Smith, meets Linda, played by Amalia Uys, they immediately hit it off with some cool banter and killer one-liners.

Unfortunately, in his effort to impress Linda, he tells her that he is in a band called Greenleaves when he is in actual fact a mechanic.

In order to win over his love, he takes extreme measures, forms the band and even lands a gig at The Bohemian pub in Melville, but does it all work out?

The story, told authentically through the actors, really does speak to any person who has had difficulty in finding love and has found themselves not always feeling good enough.

While the content of the film is relatable to all audiences, what makes it even better are Ben’s trusty sidekicks who always ensure a good giggle throughout the duration of the movie.

JJ and Ryan, played by Bennie Fourie and James Cunningham respectively, are the hilarious sidekicks and band members who assist Ben on his escapades, and keep the audience in stitches all the while.

The dry and awkward humour in the film creates an authentic feeling of being in the sticky situation that Ben has created for himself and his friends – and you realise that it is what was enjoyed most by the viewers.

The film is officially released on 30 September and is a must-see for all lovers of the romantic comedy genre.

The movie is definitely a measure of good production in a growing and improving South African film industry.
