Three years of hits, finally an album

JOBURG – Rubber Duc talks about The Secret Sunrise.

If you’re a lover of all things hip and happening in Joburg, you’d know about The Secret Sunrise – not the early morning fitness routine, but Rubber Duc’s new album.

Joburg-based folk-swing band, Rubber Duc, is best known for bringing their song, Ain’t Nobody Got Time For That to the music world after entering the industry in 2013, and now they’ve released their brand-new single Are We There Yet? as the first track from their debut album The Secret Sunrise.

“We can barely contain our excitement for this album. These songs are a collection of our experiences, feelings, moments, and memories we have made on this flipping awesome journey which are all as beautiful as a secret sunrise,” said the band’s vocalist, Nick Jordaan.

While the 12-track album will only officially be released on iTunes and Apple Music on 23 September, digitally on 30 September and on physical copies on 3 October, the band wants the world to know what the first single is all about.

“Social media consumes our lives,” added Jordaan. “Sometimes we just need to let our hair down and focus on what may be considered old-school and important. On another level, with the holidays coming up, this is a theme song for letting loose and relaxing – away from the everyday stresses and workload of the year.

“On a personal level, Rubber Duc is linking this single to the much-anticipated release of our debut album. We are finally there after years of hard work, we are ready to unleash our sound upon the world.”

The band has worked many hours at Greenside’s Openroom Studios, with Grammy and Sama-award winning engineer and producer Darryl Torr and former Zebra & Giraffe front-man Greg Carlin, to put together a collection of all news songs.

Rubber Duc have poured all their love, talent and energy into an incredible debut, giving fans more than they could ever imagine from this first full album release.

They’ve been dubbed the musical lovechild of Mango Groove and Mumford & Sons, so give them a listen if you’re a fan of something different.
