Kuwin Hughes is a Joburg gentleman who loves to spend his time having fun – when he’s not running his start-up business.
“I like Gold Reef [City] because there’s nowhere else in Johannesburg where you can find a place like this which gives you such adrenaline [rushes] and gets your blood pumping,” Hughes explained.
“It’s my day off today so I need to have as much fun as possible before I go back to work [tomorrow]. Opening a start-up company is not a joke. I don’t know how many forms I’ve filled out in the last few months or so.”
When he finds the time to visit the thrilling amusement park he makes sure to hit the biggest rides first and get his adrenaline pumping early in the day. “I have to go on the Anaconda first. It’s the best ride in the park because the first drop from the highest point of the ride really makes you feel like you’re falling – but then you’re flying.”
When asked which other rides he enjoys, Hughes responded, “The Golden Loop of course. When you’re going forward you feel like you’re on a rocket and that you’re going to fly off the ride. Then it takes you backwards and that’s even better!”
Not just visiting for the thrills, Hughes likes to get a look at all the trinkets and crafts on sale, from gems and mini sculptures, to bobble heads and toys.
“It’s best to go in the winter when the prices drop with the weather temperatures,” he advised.
