Entertainment tips from Pearl Modiadie

JOBURG – Pearl Modiadie talks about her life, hobbies and shares helpful advice.

Radio and TV personality, Pearl Modiadie takes us into her exciting career and gives aspiring entertainers some great advice.

Modiadie, a producer and the host of the talk show Zaziwa and co-host on Metro FM’s lunchtime radio show, burst onto the entertainment scene in 2006 and has since made quite the name for herself.

“The 10 years that I’ve been in the entertainment industry have been a roller-coaster ride with many ups and downs; filled with lots of victories, personal and professional and some disappointments, but it’s ever so fulfilling and that’s why I’m still here,” Modiadie commented.

Now an industry professional, she’s taking on quite a bit of responsibility – representing big brands and building a brand of her own! “I have collaborated with Shoprite on the Big Brand Beauty Extravaganza, becoming the first-ever face to represent the brand and all the personal care products under Unilever.

“I’m a beauty-on-a-budget kind of girl, so you can imagine how delighted I am to be sharing my favourite beauty secrets that are affordable.

“I also have a production company, Seed Multimedia, which is yet to have a show commissioned – fingers and toes crossed for this to happen – but I’m forever working on new show ideas, it’s always fun to do.”

The down-to-earth self-starter, when not on set, enjoys some quality time with herself, her hobbies and her favourite little rascal. “I love and enjoy reading so I do a lot of that. I have a little doggie named Hashtag that I enjoy walking and playing with when I get a chance.

“Pamper days are my favourite and I fit in at least one day of pampering every month.”

How can you start on the entertainment road to be like this dynamic woman?

Modiadie gives some tips:

  • Have the passion for it: Sometimes that’s what gets you through a project
  • Put in the work: It looks easy, fun and glamorous on the outside but it’s actually far from it
  • Empower yourself: Learn many skills and learn what everyone else does so that you’re not stranded when a project or contract ends
  • Don’t follow the hype: Always stay true to who you are
  • Enjoy the journey and everything it comes with.
