Win a R500 meal voucher with new foodie app

JOBURG - Book a table at your favourite spot through the new Joburg and Pretoria based service, myLocali.

Zomato will soon have some fierce competition, but for now, myLocali is changing the game of sit-down dining in Johannesburg and Pretoria.

“The idea behind the service is that we wanted to connect people to restaurants and restaurants to people, and essentially, what it does is allow people to find and book restaurants,” co-founder, Kevin George explained.

George and his wife came up with the idea while trying to make late-night restaurant bookings and struggled to connect with restaurants. While visiting Washington DC, they found an app to help them find and book great places to eat abroad, and the rest is history.

It was from here that the couple decided it was important to offer South Africans the same type of service to cater for the local public’s dining-out needs.

MyLocali not only offers great value for customers by connecting them with their restaurant of choice at the tap of a screen, but also great value to restaurants which are able to receive bookings, refuse bookings, create and maintain a customer database from the service and attain new clients through it.

When asked what makes this service different to other restaurant-finding apps like Zomato, George explained that the service is only available for dine-in restaurants as the main premise for its use is that customers book a table via the service and go out and eat at their chosen venue.

In addition, where other apps charge subscription fees for restaurants and increase charges for page maintenance and other services, myLocali only charges its subscribed restaurants when a booking is made.

This means that if the service is not making money for the restaurant, they are not charged by the service – now that’s value for restaurant owners.

Customers who make bookings through the service platform will also be given points which, when accumulated, can be used to dine at any of the more than 50 restaurants signed up with myLocali.

WIN: Some of their current users include Foundry in Parktown North, The Artisan and Dukes Burgers in Greenside, and so many more, and you can stand a chance to win one of two R500 meal vouchers with City Buzz and myLocali.
