Celebrating mothers with a concert at Joburg Zoo
PARKVIEW – Mothers get their groove on at Joburg Zoo on Mother’s Day.
It was a family affair of music, song and dance at Joburg Zoo on Mother’s Day.
Braving the cold weather, the mothers and their families carried camp chairs, packed picnic baskets and blankets for the day’s events. They were treated to a day of live music from musicians Zonke and Sibongile Khumalo, who were supported by the internationally-acclaimed Chamber Orchestra of Johannesburg.
The Kaya FM event, in association with Spar and City Parks, was a success and had attendees up on their feet dancing to the music throughout the day.
City of Johannesburg Mayor Parks Tau went onstage and thanked the organisers for honouring mothers with the special concert and wished the guests well and all the mothers a special day. Kaya FM radio presenters Kuli Roberts, Maphaseka and DJ Thabo ‘T’ Mokwele were also at the event interacting with and entertaining the audience.
There were clothing stalls selling scarves, winter hats and jewellery as well as food stalls selling boerewors rolls, sweets and cold drinks.
Children had fun in the kiddies area which boasted a number of jumping castles.
