Peoples Theatre’s magical line-up

JOHANNESBURG – The Peoples Theatre has a number of magical shows lined up which are guaranteed to leave audiences and little ones feeling like they’ve just been in a fairy tale.

Peoples Theatre directors, Jill Girard and Keith Smith, said they were both over the moon to present such a variety of shows to their audiences this year.

“We love that we get the opportunity to do the ‘Disney’ junior versions of Aladdin and Peter Pan for the very first time, one a great adventure and love story, and the other a musical based on one of the most beloved children’s stories.”

Kicking off the year is Disney’s Aladdin Jr. which will hit the stage in March and April. The fantastic musical will feature a number of classic Aladdin songs including the romantic hit, A whole new world.

The little ones will get swept away on a magic carpet ride of bravery, selflessness and courage.

Adults are never too old for a good time, because, for the first time, the Peoples Theatre will show Disney’s Peter Pan Jr. The enchanting story will take the stage in June and July and is filled with pixies, mermaids, lost boys and pirates, all competing to keep audiences on the edge of their seats. It’s a modernised version of the Disney film and JM Barrie’s classical magical tale but still features your favourite tunes such as Following the leader, You can fly and Yo, Ho, a pirates life for me.

“From there to here, and here to there, funny things are everywhere,” said the famous Dr. Suess. Children and adults alike will be delighted to hear that in November and December, Seussical the Musical will take over the stage at the Peoples Theatre.

Inspired by the Broadway show, the story is based on the adored books by Dr. Suess and the musical brings to life some of the famous, and whacky, characters from his tales.

“We must admit that we can’t wait to introduce our version of Seussical the Musical to young audiences. What a treat they are in for!” concluded Girard and Smith.

Ticket prices depend on the show.
