Nigeria’s Tecno Own the Stage gets a local celeb
JOHANNESBURG - Local celebrity Relebogile Mabotja, who has had 12 years of experience in the media and entertainment industry, has been selected as the musical director of the upcoming Tecno Own the Stage finale in Nigeria on 7 February.
The karaoke-themed talent search competition ran in Nigeria, Kenya and Tanzania, and was aired weekly on the African Magic Channel (DStv channel 150).
Mabotja, who is a local actress, songstress and behind the scenes aficionado, has been selected to musically direct the finale show, and to coach the contestants in the buildup to the event. She is one of the few female musical directors on the continent, and being selected to participate in the show is a testament to the excellent work she has produced and directed over the years.
“Right now in my life I do prefer being behind the scenes, I love the fact that I can really take something from a baby and make it something bigger,” said Mabotja.
