The three gents Shaun Sikhosana, Kagiso Makena and Letlhogonolo Motsumi, own their own fashion label called Conscious Clothing (@theconsciousturnout on Instagram).
As they walked down Gwigwi Mrebi Street in Newtown, City Buzz approached them to find out their story.
“What are you guys doing in the city?” City Buzz inquired.
“We actually live just down the road so we’re making our way home from campus,” Sikhosana responded.
The three friends, housemates, and business partners all study at the University of Johannesburg. When asked how they like the city, the three explained that they are self-dubbed ‘city-people’.
“Yeah, we love the city. We love everything about it – the lifestyle and all of it,” said Makena.
“It’s chilled because you can walk around, go to the shop and it’s cool because everything is accessible,” added Sikhosana.
It wasn’t difficult to get an idea of where the three enjoy hanging out in their own time.
“Braam,” Motsumi said quickly.
Makena added, “We also like Maboneng. It is nice and it’s very artsy and we have a clothing brand so it’s the perfect place for us to sell our stuff – and the people there like our kind of fashion.”
The fashionable friends have had some interesting experiences in the city – some good and some not so good.
