Queen will rock you

JOHANNESBURG – Is this the real life? Is this fantasy? Nope, this is a dream come true.

Tickets to Queen: It’s a Kinda Magic will rock the Mandela stage at Joburg Theatre from 14 January to 7 February next year.

You will be able to experience the very best of Queen live in concert, thanks to Showtime Australia, which has brought the incredible show back to Jozi. The show, which was last performed to sold-out houses in Joburg in 2009, attracted the attention, endorsement and involvement of Peter Freestone, Freddie Mercury’s best friend, neighbour, biographer and personal assistant for 12 years. “I have not seen another show in the world do it better,” Freestone was quoted saying about the production.

Taking on the iconic role of Freddie Mercury will be Englishman Giles Taylor, who will be supported by the talented Richie Baker as Brian May on guitar, Kyle Thompson as Roger Taylor on drums and local Steven Dennett as John Deacon on bass.

Taylor recounts his role in the production as one of the toughest musical roles he’s taken to date. “Freddie was known for his powerful voice and vocal range, and had a very distinct character, in general, so emulating him is quite a challenge, but those details need to be just right for a show of this magnitude. True Queen fans will appreciate the attention to detail.”

Queen: It’s a Kinda Magic will feature over 20 original hits including We Will Rock You, Bohemian Rhapsody, We Are the Champions, Another One Bites The Dust and more.

Performances are set to run each Thursday to Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 3pm.

Ticket prices range from R160 to R350.
