Two toots for the Vespa 946 Emporio Armani

Jointly developed by Giorgio Armani and Piaggio to celebrate two of Italy’s most established symbols of style and creativity, and to mark the 40th anniversary of the Foundation of Giorgio Armani and the 130th birthday of the Piaggio Group, Emporio Armani designed this special version of the Vespa 946.

This nifty little scooter is a matt dark green with a brown leather saddle and has a digital dashboard with a trip computer. Petrolheads will love the fact that this beauty is kitted out with an ABS system, anti-slip regulation system, electronic traction control and an innovative four-stroke electronic injection engine.

It has sleek, sexy curves, Giorgio Armani signage on the seat and it comes with some beautiful accessories, including a premium leather bag designed by Emporio Armani and a slick, matt black helmet for safe riding.

“This has taken Vespa to a new level,” said Andy Reid, managing director of Vespa SA.

Host for the evening, TV presenter and model Maps Maponyane said, “I think it is an absolutely beautiful work of art. The curves are as modern as they get but it still, of course, represents the heritage of Vespa. All the finishes and everything is something that will go both casually with whatever you may be donning, whatever occasion you may be going to, you’ll always look good on this.”

He explained that the name, Vespa 946 was inspired by the fact that it was in 1946 that the first Vespa was made. The new design of this Vespa is a modern reinterpretation of the original Vespa.

“It’s a balance of both heritage and mobility, and the fact that it’s called the 946 is something that you can really appreciate. There’s nothing better than owning something that has both quality and heritage behind it, it really has a story to tell,” Maponyane concluded.

The Vespa 946 Emporio Armani will be produced in an exclusive run of individually numbered scooters and will be on sale in June nex year.
