Stories to delight youngsters

BRAAMFONTEIN – Once upon a time in a glorious city of gold, was the Peoples Theatre which had seven fairy tales to delight children of all ages.

That’s right, the Story Book Theatre is back and you won’t want to miss it.

The legends and the magic of classic stories like The Brave Little Rooster, The Golden Goose, The Sword in the Stone and many more have been transported from the pages of books in order to take young Jozi audiences on an adventure.

Guests will be able to lose themselves in the song and dance and lovable characters that the Story Book Theatre cast brings to life under the guidance of theatre veterans Jill Girard and Keith Smith.

“The show is incredibly interactive, and the children love the stories and the music. It’s not just about passing on the wonder of these ageless tales; it’s also about introducing young theatregoers to the theatre, and inculcating a culture of love for the arts and the stage,” explained Girard.

The stage will be brought to life through the magic of narration, music and puppetry thanks to performers like Sarah Malherbe, Andile Magxaki, Kyra Green, Yamikani Mahaka-Phiri and Jaydene Marais, all of whom know how to get an audience going.

The Story Book Theatre series runs until 11 October at The Peoples Theatre.
