Powerful women celebrate women’s month

JOBURG - South Africa's leading female vocalists bring you an exciting Women's Month celebration during August.

Sparked by the hugely successful Simphiwe Dana 10-year celebration concert presented at Bassline in April last year, Jozi- based Kaya FM radio station and Bassline have teamed up again.

This time the collaborating parties will launch an exciting new live music series, Live @ The Bassline.

The series kicks off with a superb double-bill show celebrating the start of Woman’s Month on 1 August.

African songbirds Zamajobe and Maleh (their stage names) will take to the big Bassline stage in what promises to be an Afropolitan evening of pure entertainment and great soulful music.

Greg Maloka of Kaya FM said, “Kaya FM is committed to the celebration and promotion of South African artists.

“The stations strategy is clear in its music positioning with the Kaya FM Live & Unplugged music features and now Live @ TheBassline which allows the station to broaden its platforms.”

Zamajobe has been praised as a huge asset to have on the musical series – blessed with a rich and soulful voice that transcends her young age, she has since earned herself a unique space in the South African music industry, scooping numerous awards along the way.

After a brief stint as one of the most featured female vocalists on the local house music scene, Maleh’s career exploded with the release of her much-anticipated debut album, the Sama award-winning Step Child.

The fusion of both artist’s styles will make this show one to remember with follow up performances to take place soon after.

The first show in the series of Women’s Month performances will take place on 1 August at 8pm.
