Musos at Monchhichi

JOHANNESBURG – Four of the Eastern Cape's hottest musicians are making their way to Jozi, and needless to say, it’s going to be a great night out.

Lovers of local music will want to catch South African Music Award winner for Best Alternative Album, Nakhane Toure. Although his music is likely influenced by Morrissey, Nina Simone, Black Flag and Radiohead, his music owes as much to traditional African music as it does to recent alternative tracks.

Also taking the stage will be Moonchild Sannelly. This blue haired girl from Port Elizabeth has performed at festivals across the country before moving to Jozi and collaborating with the likes of Tshepang Ramoba, who produced her debut album Rabulapha, Thandiswa Mazwai and Toya DeLazy.

Last but certainly not least is Johnny Cradle, who has been making waves with a genre he has dubbed Roots Electro. His minimalist style has brought him attention from the media such as OkayAfrica where he said his music is “the journey of the DIY artist person of this day.”

These three musos will rock the stage at Monchhichi, 23 Fox Street on 26 June at 8pm. Tickets cost R100 and R120 after 10pm.
