Cultural festival to rock ConHill

JOHANNESBURG – The iStart2Sing Share The Sun Festival will be taking over Constitutional Hill as it teams up with the National Council for Persons with Physical Disabilities in South Africa to embrace diversity, disability and sustainability.

iStart2 ambassador Pops Mohamed said, “Pierre du Toit, founding member and owner of iStart2sing, approached me four years ago and explained the project to me. I was so moved by his passion and dedication for coming through for the disabled community.”

Mohamed added that the aim of iStart2Sing was to uplift and give the disabled the pride and dignity they deserved. Featuring the likes of Black Coffee, Hotstix, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Bianca la Grange and many, many more, the festival aims to create the awareness that artists with disabilities can function and perform with mainstream artists.

“The festival is the ‘shape of big things yet to come’. I think the public is in for a very big surprise. Apart from big names, people will have the opportunity to experience the many new talented artists who will be performing.”

Festival-goers will feel like they have contributed too, as there will be a Share The Sun donation of R450 000 worth of solar lights to various charitable organisations as DJ’s such as DJ Noah, Cuebur, Speedsta, Twins on Decks and The Pencil Boy spin the decks over at the youth stage.

“South Africa is a pregnant country, giving birth to new beautiful things everyday – iStart2Sing is one of them,” Mohammed said.

It takes place on 31 May 2015 at Constitution Hill from 10am to 8pm.
