Baobab Sisters wow Joburg

Baobab sisters is an energetic women's vocal group from Denmark that performs acapella songs from southern Africa.

The group was formed five years ago and consist of eight girls, they have visited South Africa many times, were they performed for Desmond Tutu and did collaborations with Hugh Masekela and Mboneni Ngema.

The Baobab sisters visited down town Johannesburg were they left spectators trilled after they performed one of the struggle songs ‘Asimboanaga’, they also visted places like Soweto and Alexandra Township, the group will be in the country for ten days and will also visit other provinces such as KwaZulu Natal.

The founder of the group Rikke Forchhammer is a specialist in African choral music and has published three choral booklets with African songs. Mrs Forchhammer said, she was excited about their corlaboration with Mbongeni Ngema.

The song Ubuhle, which is made in cooperation with Mbongeni Ngema, is online for download.
