Jazz Lovers Unite

BRAAMFONTEIN - There’s nothing better than the sound of a smooth saxophone filling the air, and now jazz fans can experience these sounds by heading to The Orbit – the home of jazz.

For the next week, the sound of jazz will drown out the hustle-and-bustle of the City as some of Jozi’s top musicians take the stage.

Aymeric Peguillan, owner and partner of The Orbit, said he is looking forward to every gig. “The Orbit Big Band is one we’ve put together and they’re probably the best big band in town. It’s always a great experience as it takes you straight back to the swing era.”

Under the watchful and talented eye of saxophonist Janus van der Merwe, The Orbit Big Band can boast about having some of the country’s finest jazz artists including Sisonke Xonti on the sax, Alex Hitzeroth on the trombone, Lwanda Gogwana on the trumpets and many more.

All shows start at 8.30pm. Show dates are as follows:

April 23 – En Feugo, The Orbit Afro-Cuban Salsa Band – R100

April 24 – Bernice Boikanyo, the Groove Master – R120
