Fans celebrate earth’s mightiest Avengers
MONTECASINO - Saving the world has never looked as good as the long-awaited Avengers sequel, Avengers: Age of Ultron opened on 23 April at South African cinemas.
Local movie fans will get a chance to see this heroic movie a full week ahead of the US.
Featuring everyone’s favourite superheroes Thor, Hulk, Iron Man, Hawkeye, Black Widow and Captain America, the film is action-packed and full of witty quips thanks to Robert Downey Jr. However this time round, the Avengers have to deal with their greatest nemesis yet, Ultron, a diabolical entity imbued with alien artificial intelligence voiced by James Spader.
The audience will also be introduced to a few new super-powered characters like the Maximoff twins, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver.
One should especially lookout for a fight sequence in a fictional African city which was the culmination of a 10-day shoot in South Africa last year. Audiences should keep their eyes peeled for familiar Joburg CBD buildings and South African police cars and uniforms. Ever since their first appearance in a Stan Lee comic book in 1963, the Avengers have been delighting audiences worldwide and have certainly earned the title of ‘Earth’s mightiest heroes’.
The South African premiere took place at Montecasino on 22 April and had fans dressed as their favourite Marvel characters all extremely eager to get a sneak peek at the film.
