Comedian addresses the Oliphant in the room

JOBURG - THE Eldorado-born comedian, Dillan Oliphant knew from a very young age that what he wanted was to make people laugh for a living.

Having grown up watching one of his favourite American comedians, Chris Rock, Oliphant said being a comedian is all he’s wanted to do, despite having started much later than what he had hoped.

“I started comedy in 2010 right after I watched the comedy show Bafana in the World Cup. I thought if they could do it, so could I,” said Oliphant.

Since then, he has come a long way and recently came off a very successful nationwide tour alongside Trevor Noah.

Oliphant (or the ma se kind from Eldos as he refers to himself) is a breath of fresh air in the local comedy scene.

With his clever, distinct, dead-pan one-liners, his laidback and nonchalant style on stage, he makes for great stand-up comedian.

The SA Comic’s Choice Award winner will bring his unique style of comedy to the stage for his very own one-man show at the Market Theatre on 27 and 28 March.

The comedian said his one man show, The Oliphant In The Room, is a round-up of some of his best material that he has honed and sharpened over the years, as well as some added new material that will have audiences in stitches.

Oliphant said those looking to laugh till they fall off their chairs should definitely come see the show.

“If not, then to see my well-toned one pack – been gyming hard for it,” he said.
