Alex’s Mrs SA a better person

ALEXANDRA - Alex's Mrs South Africa aspirant Itumeleng Sebata bowed out from last year's prestigious pageant a winner after gaining invaluable experience about life, community and the universe.

Alex’s Mrs South Africa 2014 aspirant Itumeleng Sebata did not win the title but gained invaluable experience about life, community and the universe.

Sebata said, “Rubbing shoulders with entrants with an immense wealth of knowledge and experience in life, business and the beauty industry was a major learning curve which I will cherish for the rest of my life. It prepared me for the next challenge which is to enter the contest again.”

As a businesswoman, Sebata said competing in the pageant taught her the importance of time management, the skills for achieving her dreams, and how to develop credibility and trust from her increasing customer base. Sebata added that now she was able to squeeze in more work in a day including focusing more on her charity programme, 1st Time Moms, which she promoted during the pageant. The programme involves giving talks at schools on self awareness, and to restore hope in pregnant teenagers and young moms mostly from child-headed households. “They deserve support and have potential to live and achieve their dreams,” she said.

Sebata said the Mrs South Africa pageant was platform for women to empower each other. “It also develops social consciousness and exposes women to funding and collaboration opportunities. But it can also be daunting for some who may find its financial demands and rigorous dressing demands overwhelming.”
