Mafikizolo plan epic tour around SA

HOUGHTON- Internationally-acclaimed afro-pop group Mafikizolo have partnered with the Nelson Mandela Foundation to embark on a first-of-its-kind tour around South Africa to promote their Reunited Album.

The group spoke at a press conference held at the Nelson Mandela Foundation in Houghton.

MC of the event Kgomotso KG Moeketsi said that fundamentally, the tour was about social cohesion and it aimed at creating dialogue among young people.

CEO of the Nelson Mandela Foundation, Sello Hatang, hoped that Mafikizolo would be able to reach young people through dialogues. “The important part of the work that Mafizolo will be doing is looking out for the young people,” he said.

“We felt that we haven’t had enough time to just give back to the community, so we are super excited,” said group member, Nhlanhla Nciza.

“We wanted to do this tour with one of the biggest foundations in our country being the Nelson Mandela Foundation,” said Nciza.

Equally excited group member Theo Kgosinkwe explained that in addition to performing, the group hoped to engage with young people and give back to society.

“We are really honoured to be partnering with the six cities as well as the Nelson Mandela Foundation,” Kgosinkwe added.

Mafikizolo ended the day with a stellar performance. Mafikizolo also confirmed that other legendary South African artists and international artists would support them on the tour.

The tour is scheduled to kick off on 14 March and will tour around six cities namely Tshwane, Bloemfontein, Polokwane, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Johannesburg.

Proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the Nelson Mandela Foundation. Tickets can be purchased at Computicket, or at the door.
