Hello 2015

I have never been one to make predictions, mostly because more often than not they are always incorrect, but this year I am going to make one; be it a very simple one.

My prediction is that 2015 is going to be a great year! We have an amazing year ahead of us, with some great and intelligent matriculates starting university. I am sure there are some very proud moms and dads out there!

To the matrics of 2014 – congratulations. We are all so proud of you.

This year is also the year I hope to see communities uniting together for the greater good. I have attended a couple of meetings where community members have started uniting together to clean up their areas and fight crime. I am very excited about these initiatives and can’t wait to see the end results.

While I stand firm in my prediction of a great year, I know this year will also bring up some challenges and tests.

The e-tolling debacle continues and our electricity will continue to be erratic, thanks to Eskom and the never ending load shedding. But while there are hurdles coming up this year, I have every confidence we can handle it. One thing I have learnt from being editor of this paper is that Joburg residents are strong. We have high morals and stand for what we believe in. So no matter what this year throws at us – we’ll survive and surpass it and come out more united, stronger and ready to face another day.

To my fellow Joburgers – Happy New Year!
