Avengers trailer highlights Joburg City

JOBURG - The newly released teaser trailer of The Avengers: Age of Ultron features Joburg prominently.

Marvel released the trailer earlier this week after it was leaked online.

Rather than responding formally to the leak, Marvel kept its cool, jokingly tweeted “Dammit, Hyda”.

However, it appears Marvel was then forced to release the official version in high definition ahead of schedule on 23 October.

In February, a number of streets in the city centre were closed for the film’s production as some of its action photography sequences were shot throughout the city.

While New York was for years used in many films as the opening shot, the Avengers trailer took a different direction and opens with an aerial shot of Johannesburg.

Notable events in the trailer include what appears to be a fight between the superheroes on Johannesburg streets with noticeable landmarks including Carlton Centre, South African number plates, and Rea Vaya bus stations.

Even our men in blue, the South African Police, will feature in the film.
