Last chance to see charming local film

The film, written and directed by Etienne Fourie, will be shown at a special final screening at Foxwood House.

Starring screen legends Ian Roberts, Marga van Rooy and Grethe Fox alongside hot newcomers Leandie Du Randt, Armand Greyling and Sean-Marco Voster, the film revolves around 20-year-old Hendri and a colourful, quirky summer spent at his grandfather’s retirement village.

“Against the backdrop of garden ornaments, bingo nights, and the weird and wonderful behaviour of the elderly [residents], Hendri befriends a kind but nosey neighbour, Tannie Marietjie (Van Rooy) and her two closest mates, Rossouw and Miggie (Roberts and Fox),” said theatre manager Clive Rodel.

“It’s only when Hendri meets Margot (Du Randt) and falls head over heels in love that this sleepy village starts to wake up. But all is not what it seems… There are secrets Hendri could never have imagined.”

The film features English subtitles.

Die Windpomp will be screened on 22 June at Foxwood Theatre, 13 5th Street, Houghton Estate, at 3.30pm.
