Celebrate ABBA with song and supper

HOUGHTON -IF THE ABBA-inspired musical Mamma Mia! left you saying "Gimme Gimme Gimme more", Foxwood Theatre has a treat in store for you.

The intimate Houghton theatre will host Mamma Mia! The Dinner with special guest artist Carly Graeme in July, in celebration of the Swedish supergroup’s 40th anniversary.

Graeme dazzled audiences when she played the lead role of Donna in the South African production of the musical.

“You know the music, have seen the movie, and loved the musical. Now do the dinner,” said theatre manager Clive Rodel.

Brought to the theatre by Pop-Up Soirees and hosted by Bruce J Little and Chet Diepraam, the dinner will feature perennial hits like Dancing Queen, Super Trouper, and Gimme Gimme Gimme (a man after midnight).

“With Graeme… there is your inimitable host, funnyman, singer and actor extraordinaire, Little, as well as and co-host Diepraam, a self-confessed discophile,” said Rodel.

Guests will be able to enjoy a four-course spread with a main course buffet.

Rodel said the theatre will be laid out in banquet-style seating, and that dress-up was most definitely encouraged.

Ten-seater tables will be available, and private or corporate parties can be arranged for up to 50 guests.

Mamma Mia! The Dinner will play every weekend in July, at 7pm on Saturday and at 12.30pm on Sunday, at Foxwood Theatre, 13 5th Street, Houghton Estate.
