One Direction to South Africa

JOBURG - Phenomenally successful pop group One Direction is heading to South Africa for a three-date stadium tour.

The boy band will perform two shows in Johannesburg and one in Cape Town in March and April next year, as part of the On the Road Again 2015 tour.

Speaking on behalf of promoter Big Concerts, publicist Dionne Domyan-Mudie said the group released their record-breaking third album, Midnight Memories, last year.

The phenomenal album sales saw the group named as the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry’s global artist of 2013, for becoming the biggest-selling act in the world.

One Direction also became the first group ever to have their first three albums debut at number one in the US Billboard Chart, and they hit the top spot in a further 30 countries.

“The band – Harry, Niall, Liam, Louis and Zayn – have just completed the first leg of their massive, sellout Where We Are stadium tour, which saw the boys visit South America for the first time, to an overwhelming reception,” said Domyan-Mudie.

“The UK and Ireland leg kicks off at Dublin’s Croke Park on 23 May, before moving to Europe and the USA throughout the rest of 2014.”

The group will wow Joburg on 28 and 29 March 2015 at FNB Stadium, and head down to Cape Town for a concert on 1 April.

Various ticket packages are available to fans, including Hot Tickets that offer ‘best seat’ tickets in a block with views of the main and B stages, a 1D wristwatch with pouch, and a laminated card and lanyard.

Suite hospitality packages are also available.

Various transport options, including park and ride and shuttle services, will also be available.

Tickets will go on sale on 23 May at 9am.

Fans younger than the age of 14 must be accompanied at the concert by a parent or legal guardian, and no one under the age of 13 and shorter than 1.2m will be allowed into the standing area.
