44 Stanley offers eclectic mix of boutiques and cafes

Since opening, 44 Stanley offers people a unique space to shop and dine.

Surrounded with classy boutiques such as Vovo Telo and unique restaurants offering delectable cuisine such as L8 Panini & café bar , 44 Stanley has managed to revamp an industrial area into an eclectic and vibrant one. The chic and trendy area caters to a wide array of Johannesburg customers and has a bit of everything for consumers.

According to Brian Green, one of the founders and co-owners of 44 Stanley, the aim of establishing the area was to offer customers a pleasant area to visit and spend time enjoying some shopping and cuisine. 44 Stanley was officially opened in 2003 in Milpark and is owned by Green and Mark Batchelor.

“We also wanted to offer a place that was practical for destination shoppers,” Green added.

Green explained that realising this goal had its own challenges such as converting the building from its industrial area into a lively, vibrant place.

The transformation included re-electrifying, re-plumbing and creating a practical flow of traffic between the two properties.

Green and Batchelor have managed to make 44 Stanley a truly diverse and unique space for shoppers, despite the challenges. This trendy space offers various speciality boutiques, food, clothing and antiques shops which is refreshing in area which was once industrial with old buildings. Green said that opening 44 Stanley was aimed at offering a space that was authentic and real.

“We wanted to offer our customers a cross section of brands and products that made up a critical mass of tenants who, in turn, attracted similarly minded consumers,” he explained.

Green added that there were plans to expand the area and continue making it a fun, vibrant area for Jozi customers.

Some of the plans in store include opening a new store titled A.Y.K and Freddy.
