Rock out at RAMfest

JOBURG - Alternative music festival RAMfest has become a highlight on the local music festival calendar, and this year will be no exception.

Stellar local and international acts like Biffy Clyro (Scotland), Foals (UK), Trivium (USA), Gangs of Ballet (SA) and ISO (SA) will leave crowds begging for more at this year’s event.

The full weekend camping festival to be held in Witfontein, Bronkhorstspruit, from 6 until 9 March will feature four stages, making for “a mind-blowing adventure into real alternative music”.

Speaking on behalf of the organisers, Liny Kruger said, “These international bands have sold millions of albums, won coveted awards, charted on the Billboard 200, and play major festivals worldwide.”

Vuvu Vultures, Gangs of Ballet, ISO, Foals and Biffy Clyro will appear on the Red Heart Rum stage on the Friday. Them Bandits, Man As Machine, Martin Rocka & the Sick Shop, Newtown Knife Gang, Trivium and Killswitch Engage will appear on the same stage on the Saturday.

The Monster stage will see Climate Control, Agro, Facing the Gallows, Taxi Violence, and Haggis & Bong perform on the Friday, and Poverty of Ideals, Theatre Runs Red, Urban Vitamin, Loveglove Pyrotechnics, ShortStraw, Black Cat Bones, and Fuzigish will perform on the Saturday.

Ambush, Phizicist, Mr Mon, Benson, Blindfolders, Twelv Live, Prototype, Haezer, and Grimehouse will appear on the Olmeca stage on the Friday.

The same stage will host Hugs on Drugs, Not Sean vs RNDM CTZN, Muzi, Half & Half, Liver, Mr Green Protoculture, Niskerone, Camo & Krooked, and RudeOne on the Saturday.

Festival early birds can start stomping their feet on the Thursday at the Stellenbrau Carnival stage, which will feature The Martin Brothers, Carri Wolfe, Justin Swart, Jet Black Camaro, and Black Market Riots.

The same stage will feature comedy acts, Sutherland, Elevated Motion, and Mr Cat & the Jackal on the Friday, and comedy acts, Yo Grapes, Aidan Martin, and The Frown on the Saturday.

All Johannesburg RAMfest tickets include full weekend camping.
